Young Cadets Meet on the Deck of the Battleship Averof – Monday, 9 March 2026
The historic battleship Averof welcomed young cadets and students from several European countries as part of an Erasmus exchange program.
The gathering brought together cadets and students from European partner institutions also participated, including representatives from Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, and Italy.
The first meeting of the participants took place on the deck of a warship that stands as a living symbol of Greece’s naval heritage. The choice of location carried its own meaning. For more than a century, Averof has sailed through defining moments of Greek history, reminding visitors that the sea has always been not only a field of operations, but also a bridge connecting nations and people.
Standing on the historic deck, the young cadets had the opportunity to become acquainted, exchange ideas and experiences, and reflect on their shared future as officers and professionals serving their countries.
In a setting where history remains vividly present, the meeting acquired a deeper symbolism: the encounter between the legacy of the past and the aspirations of a new generation.
